Martina Edoff from Sweden is one of a kind. Strong, Brave & In control.

After starting her career as a singer, recording and touring with multimillion selling hip hop artist Dr. Alban, the Swedish phenomenon E-Type a.o, she became a founding member of the double platinum selling glam metal band The Poodles. After a few years break from the music scene Martina Edoff now returns as a solo artist with the classic rock she originally was born and raised for. As her upcoming album Unity proves – Martina Edoff is the new Nordic Queen of Rock!

”Now it’s all about the kind of music I really love the most myself” Martina Edoff confirms. I want my music to be both powerful and melodic, so right now I’m having the time of my life!

Unity was recorded at the legendary Bohus Sound Studios in Sweden, whose long list of clients since the start thirtyfive years ago includes both ABBA and Status Quo (who recorded their hit album and best-selling single ”Rockin’ All Over The World” in the same studio). Martina Edoff’s producer and sound engineer Tobias Lindell has previously recorded, mixed and produced bands such as Europe, Mustasch and Hardcore Superstar at Bohus Sound.

Martina Edoff has personally been deeply involved in the whole recording process, and worked closely together with her few selected co-writers to make sure the material is really, really right for her. After she had written the first lyrics and melodies for the album, Jona Tee (keyboard player in the Swedish hard rock group H.E.A.T and also as co-writer ) has been by her side all along to let the songs develop into a sound that suits perfectly with Martinas voice. Jona Tee brought all the other musicians in H.E.A.T to the recording sessions in Bohus Sound Studios.

Martina Edoff started her music career as a singer, recording and/or touring with the multimillion selling Ace Of Base, Dr. Alban and other Swedish top acts such as E-Type,  among others.

”It was fun. We toured the world and did a lot of TV shows. I learned a lot and it gave me some valuable experience. I don’t regret it, but my heart wasn’t there” Martina Edoff now confesses.

Back in Sweden she became a founding member of the double platinum selling glam metal band The Poodles and continued performing all over the country. After a few years away from the music business – when she took a break and instead of singing studied and worked as a professional lifecoach, she last year made her comeback in Sweden with the eponymous solo album Martina Edoff.

”And now it’s for real!” says the singer with a happy smile.

Martina Edoff describes the new songs as uptempo rock, ”but there are also some nice ballads in there”.

”The music is kind of rooted in the 80’s heavy metal. It got strong melodies and a heavy sound, but the album is a 100 percent modern production with a modern sound, so it’s definitely not retro” assures the singer.

” The lyrics have sometimes a deeper meaning, but the power in the music is meant to give the listener an energy boost!”

”For me, nothing beats to be on stage and really feel that I’m communicating with an audience through the songs. That’s an incredible kick!”

They work with a German PR agency, and last year the internationally recognised independent booking agency Metal Music Bookings in U.K. (whose roster includes Michael Schenker’s Temple Of Rock, Lita Ford, and Swedish rock colleague Yngwie Malmsteen a.o.) discovered Martina Edoff’s first solo album. They liked what they heard and now their aim is to break her on the international scene.

Among the already confirmed fans are the respected English rock journalist Dave Ling, who last year discovered Martina Edoff’s eponymous titled solo debut, celebrated her with a full page article in Classic Rock AOR Magazine and put her album on his playlist, describing it as ”Stirring, confident melodies from an unashamed Swedish rock chick!”

”There is definitely a bigger interest abroad than in Sweden, for the kind of music I’m making now, says the artist herself. In Sweden it’s more about pop and club music.

”The music I make is not about trying to guess what’s ‘the flavour of the day’. This is music that has a dedicated audience. An audience that really listens. I just can’t wait to meet them. I’m so exited!” admits Martina Edoff, once more with a big, happy smile on her face.

Now the new Nordic Queen of Rock aims for the international audiences with her upcoming album Unity and first single ”The World Has Gone Mad”. And if she succeeds, the world could well go mad!

BIOGRAFÍA

Abrasantia es una banda de Gothic Metal, nacida en la provincia de Santa Fe, Argentina.
Su historia comienza tras la disolución definitiva de HÄXAN (Witchcraft Concert) y con el lanzamiento póstumo de su último sencillo «ABRASANTIA».

ORÍGENES

En la nada, y tras la frustración que implica el silenciamiento de las almas, Federico A. Spinosa, tecladista/compositor de la banda, comienza una labor de insurrección contra la determinación grupal de poner fin al proyecto, y lo refunda con nueva cara, «ABRASANTIA».

La primer reunión fue con su antiguo guitarrista y compositor adjunto en HÄXAN, Emanuel A. Ocampo; ambos concordaron en que el momento había llegado, que no esperaría y en que debían localizar a Claudio Maltaneri, más bien conocido como TATO; una vez localizado el baterista Totorense, dispuesto a rearmar su batería y a ensayar en Rosario, en un juego de naipes con el destino, se propuso llamar a su vecino, Matías Cachiotta, el mismo bajista con quién habían compartido tanta música y tantos escenarios, incluyendo el mítico estadio Obras Sanitarias, teatros y discos grabados; para la sorpresa de todos, Matías Cachiotta acepta la propuesta, aumentando los ánimos e incrementando la apuesta. La suerte estaba echada.

Tras una serie de ofertas rechazadas y una mini audición de vocalistas, fue Evelyn Mailén Vollmer, la encargada de poner el broche dorado, que completando la formación, daba aliento, voz y vida, a añejas composiciones revividas, y a otro tanto, que con ella nacían.

La banda concluye el periodo 2011-2012, logrando su primer material discográfico en estudio “Concierto de Brujería (EP)”, en el contexto de varios recitales con bandas nacionales e internacionales, obteniendo gran aprobación y respuesta por parte del público metalero, grabando además, un DVD en vivo tras su actuación como banda soporte de la banda finlandesa NIGHTWISH, en el Teatro de Flores (Buenos Aires).

Inaugurado el 2013, Evelyn Mailén Vollmer decide su desvinculación por motivos de índole personal; a los dos días de su apartamiento es llamada a ocupar voces Rocío Rojo (ex- HÄXAN), pero tras una suerte de desinteligencias con la misma, y ante la buena nueva de disponibilidad horaria de quien se le ofreciere el puesto desde la fundación de ABRASANTIA, es llamada a liderar el mismo, Melani Hess (cantante de HESS), reconocida vocalista local, con quien se graba el single ETERNA, integrado con el corte difusión «Desierto de Lágrimas», siendo su primer participación con ABRASANTIA en el legendario club Willie Dixon, junto a la prestigiosa banda alemana LACRIMOSA.

En las postrimerías de un nuevo ciclo superado y vencido, Claudio Maltaneri decide abandonar la banda, dando paso a Luis «Pampa» Frontini, baterista de larga trayectoria en la música (actual miembro de Benetnasch Tributo a Rammstein, Insulina Rock, y Alkaid) para revitalizar fuertemente las entrañas de ABRASANTIA.

En la aurora de un 2014, clave para la banda, se decide la desvinculación de Melani Hess por razones de química e integración de grupo, ingresando sin espera Mariana Brunel, destacada cantante de la ciudad de Rosario, quien 7 años antes había sido convocada para integrar HÄXAN (formación original), y con quien en los albores del año de mención, ABRASANTIA lanza el single «Conjuro de Amor», presentándose como banda invitada de la diva internacional TARJA TURUNEN, en Buenos Aires y en Rosario de Santa Fe, en el contexto de su gira mundial «Colours in the Road».

ABRASANTIA se encuentra actualmente trabajando en su primer larga duración en estudio “Forgotten Rituals (LP)”, placa discográfica que será editada, publicada y distribuida por MTM Prod. Records.

Abrasantia simboliza la unión de lo blanco y de lo negro, de lo dionisíaco con lo apolíneo, naciendo en el año 2011, como toda expresión de arte… ¡siempre fuera de tiempo!, como un retorno tarde pero eterno, tal vez un eco, hacia las profundidades del común espíritu, que a todos nos ata… ¡que hoy nos ata!, en alma de cofradía, en música y en sentimiento.

Sin distinción de religiones o credos, expande sus fronteras hacía el lado oscuro del universo, reflejado tal vez, en aquel claro de luna, de nostalgia y deseo, de luz y silencio… como agrupación musical, que ya orientada a la cultura gótica, no entiende ni adhiere, a criterios de estilos ni de conceptos.
